CSA PROGRAM
What is CSA?
Community-Supported Agriculture – or “CSA” - is a model that connects producers and consumers within the food system closer by allowing consumers to subscribe to the harvest of a certain farm. By partaking in a farm’s CSA program, consumers purchase a “share” at the beginning of a growing season, and then, in turn, receive freshly picked produce during the growing season.
Why Become a Farm in the Dell CSA Shareholder?
Farm in the Dell’s CSA program is truly special. Our produce boxes are lovingly packaged and delivered each week by our incredible team of Garden Engineers, who have developmental disabilities. This devoted group of individuals work hard to provide our shareholders with weekly boxes of produce. Think of your weekly box like a warm hug from our team. In return, they learn valuable lessons in growing vegetables and have the opportunity to grow as people, forming a community of proud “farmers” in the Dell. Our employees are not valued on their work efficiency, but instead are reminded of their true dignity as beloved sons and daughters of God, their Father.
Each week, our shareholders can expect the following items:
Produce – you will receive fresh, seasonal produce and recipes
Each week (for a minimum of 12 weeks) between late-June and mid-September, our shareholders will receive boxes of fresh seasonal produce, depending on what is available and ripe. Our team works hard to plant a wide variety of produce that allows our shareholders to enjoy their favorite garden foods and also try new things. Scroll down for an in-depth list of our garden produce. Please make note that the box contents are dependent on what is in season and may not be filled to the top each week. Late season boxes are fuller as more vegetables are ready to harvest. Additionally, each week’s box will include a suggested recipe that will accompany a seasonal item.
Mission – you will receive newsletters, including employee stories and involvement opportunities
As a way to keep our shareholders up-to-date on the impact of their support, along with opportunities to attend events, volunteer, and stay connected, we will provide weekly informational newsletters. Because our CSA shareholders are the lifeblood of our organization and deeply support our mission of transforming disabilities into abilities, we want to keep them in the loop on farm happenings.
Prayers – you will receive devotionals and prayer requests
*new this year* – Starting in 2023, our shareholders will receive weekly devotionals along with the opportunity to “link” into Farm in the Dell’s powerful prayer chain. Each box will include prayer requests from other shareholders in our CSA community, along with a space for them to include their own prayer requests. It is a natural end of our Identity as Christians that we will pray for our shareholders, as well, and invite them to share in this intimacy with Christ through prayer.
