Our New Executive Director
"It is my honor to announce myself, Shirley Willis as the Executive Director of the Farm in the Dell of the Red River Valley. What an amazing organization and group of people.
As a Minnesota native I grew up in Fairmont and was educated in Mankato. My lifelong commitment has been to serve individuals with disabilities. This commitment is now 33 years old and I am more motivated then ever.
I have worked for residential group homes, home care agencies, the school district and most recently the last 10 years as the Director of the Lighthouse Christian Home and Services in Kalispell, MT.
This is where my experience, passion, and my Christian upbringing merged into a philosophy that all people deserve a full and successful life.
I am blessed with two amazing children. Jena is 19 and a sophomore in college at Gustavus Adolphus in St. Peter, MN where she is a talented softball player, and Alec, 15, a sophomore in high school where he carries a 4.0 GPA.
I am married to Kip, my best friend and supporter for 20 years. God is good and I am thankful for this opportunity."

How will the FM Community benefit from the Farm?
The success of the Farm program will rely on the support and involvement of the local communities. This will lead to the residents leading lives of purpose and fulfillment. The Farm will create jobs for people with disabilities who wish to work in a rural, relaxed setting, but choose to live in the city.
It's up to the residents what work will be available on the Farm, but current Farms do everything from pet boarding to delivering fresh cut flowers to area offices and government buildings. Fall festivals, barn dances, harvest parties, a pumpkin patch and the like will provide much needed funds to run the Farm and entertainment for the entire community! Classrooms may wish to use the Farm as a field trip destination.
Residents will enjoy working in a relaxed, calm atmosphere allowing them to take pride in their workplace and their home.
Residents of current Farm in the Dells are involved in a variety of daily chores such as caring for animals, planting, growing and harvesting crops. The Farm will develop its own horticultural and agricultural programs according to the abilities and interests of the residents.
The job opportunities for people with disabilities and those who wish to serve them are endless! The Farm in the Dell of the Red River Valley can be a promised land for those seeking a closer relationship with God and with His Creation.
Community Bulletin Board
-Next board meeting will be held at 7pm on January 13th, 2015. ***Have a blessed Christmas and a Happy New Year!***
-Please be in prayer that negotiations for our new property continue to go well.
-Pray for wisdom and insight for the committees and our executive director.
-Praise the Lord for our new part-time executive director.
-Please be in prayer for those who are working to ensure the opening of the Farm.
-Ask God to provide volunteers for the garden and other projects. For the harvest is truly plentiful and the workers are dedicated, but unfortunately few.
-Please offer up praise for all He has provided for this project!
This spring and summer we maintained a 100' x 150' garden space graciously donated by Catalyst Medical Center with the help of amazing community volunteers! Over 50 individual volunteers and 2,000 volunteer hours were put in just over 4 months in 2014!
